At Wollens we believe that sustainability is fundamental to the long-term success of our business and the communities we are a part of. It’s not enough to pay lip service, we need to actively engage and demonstrate our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. That’s why we’re accredited by Carbon Neutral Britain.
Since joining in 2022 we have been actively engaging, measuring, and introducing new initiatives to help reduce our Carbon footprint.
Over the last two years, we’ve seen total reductions of 18% to our carbon footprint. We’ve also made a commitment to offset our carbon footprint each year. This year we have supported wind farm power in Mongolia and India, solar projects in Turkey, and household solar lighting in Zambia. All projects supported are VERRA standard verified projects and have undertaken Independent Project Validation and Assurance on quality, outcomes and performance.
We’ve have been a Carbon Neutral Business since 2022. Some of the initiatives we’ve taken include:
- Solar Panels on our North Devon office saving 7000kg of CO2 emissions each year.
- A 21% drop in energy usage in the last year through smart initiatives including voltage optimisers.
- We power our business on 100% renewable energy.
- Since 2022 we’ve been zero to landfill
- Since 2022 we’ve also seen a 42% reduction in paper used. The paper we do use is sustainably sourced.
- Over 185 hours of commuting time and associated emissions saved each week through our working from home policy.
Not only are we engaged with the environment, but we are also actively involved with the communities we live and work in.
- Our people have donated over 1500 hours of their free time to local community projects and social enterprises in the last year.
- We’ve donated over £16,000 to various charitable causes last year.
