From defining your wishes to discussing tax options
No one likes to think about their death and what they’d want to happen to their assets. Sadly, dying without a properly drawn will can cause a great deal of wasted time, unnecessary expense and heartache, as well as hassle from disputes that could easily be avoided. And there are the potential inheritance tax implications to consider, too.
Our service takes you through all the relevant things you need to think about as well as drawing up a will that really reflects your wishes. We can help whether you need a single will for a modest estate, or if your affairs are more complex with both personal and business assets to consider.
Many people avoid paying for a will by using other methods, but often this can be a false economy – we’d be happy to explain to you why.

My will was all done remotely by phone, notes, letters due to the distance involved – about 145 miles, general health and Covid restrictions. More recently I had a serious illness with loss of driving license and other lasting problems but I have been very lucky with the outcome. What seemed difficult was much easier with the help I was given. Excellent service. Solicitor Alex Jenkins and secretary Enya Garrett have been friendly, considerate, shown knowledge in an understanding way throughout preparing my will – and I have never met them. Wollens is highly recommended.
Karen Miller and I have collaborated on complex family cases where multi-generational planning is involved and her approach has been truly open minded in how to best meet client needs. This is unusual in my experience, and it takes a lot of skill and understanding of the wider planning landscape to be able to adapt one’s thought process as the case progresses.
Christopher Linton stands out in this sector across the South West. His knowledge, speed of service, and ability to build rapport and establish long term relationships, sets him apart from others.
Charlotte McGregor is the prime example of what Wollens do well. I have no hesitation in putting her name forward to clients whenever asked. She has a clear understanding of her subject, an excellent presentation of that subject, and leads her team by example. She has the ability to put clients at ease from the word go.
Christopher Linton is fantastic at what he does on private client matters, and the praise that we receive from clients for recommending him speaks volumes. His knowledge, questioning mind, delivery and execution skills are as good as I have seen.
Karen Miller is extremely experienced and knowledgeable of her field of practice but also of the local market in Devon. Karen’s extremely approachable nature and ease with which to deal with the firm has impressed the mutual clients who I have referred for legal work.
