Catherine Pinnegar has reached a settlement of £60,000 after being instructed to act on behalf of a client who was given negligent treatment.

The client developed a sore on his ankle that quickly deteriorated into a large scab, he was then referred to the vascular clinic at his local hospital. The consultants there failed to determine the cause of the material presentation, despite the client’s arterial history.

Crucially, they failed to recognise that the client’s foot pulses on the left were either absent or far from normal. As a result, the client’s condition worsened, and his leg had to be amputated. Had his foot been properly examined, it would have become immediately apparent that the client was suffering from arterial disease and the correct treatment could have been provided, saving him from months of excruciating pain and the eventual amputation.

The client said “I found Wollens solicitors extremely helpful and thoughtful throughout the whole procedure they were informative and made me feel assured they had me and my partners’ family at the forefront of their negotiations with excellent professional input.”

Wollens supported them and their families through the necessary legal steps to obtain an explanation as to how the error was able to occur.
