Legal Support Assistant – Family Department Torquay - Wollens Solicitors Devon

We have a fantastic opportunity for a bright, competent, and able administrator to join our professional enthusiastic team, to work in the firm’s brand new and state-of-the art South Devon Office based in the heart of Torquay.

Wollens is a dynamic and successful Devon-based firm. It has shown exceptional growth over the past few years and is now one of the largest practices in the Devon and Somerset area. 

The role would be to provide support to our Family Department team and accounts/billing work.

When supporting the Family Team your role would be to provide legal support to our lawyers and involve dealing with new client enquiries, audio typing, compliance related tasks, setting up files and closing files.

The other part of the role would be focused on accounts and costing, particularly legal aid billing. This would include reviewing billing letters and notifications, chasing outstanding invoices/fee notes, and putting together the bundles to submit when billing. Full training will be given on this aspect of the role.

It is essential that you possess excellent technical skills, are professional in your approach to work, adaptable and determined to support your team to succeed. 

Although previous experience would be an advantage, it is not essential as full training will be provided. However, we expect applicants to be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • display excellent customer service and be confident speaking with clients and contacts on the telephone
  • display empathy 
  • type at a reasonable speed (40-50 word per minute) with accuracy both independently and using audio-dictation  
  • to be able to use a computer and the main software packages confidently
  • be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • work well with others
  • be patient and remain calm in stressful situations
  • use initiative but also take direction and work to deadlines

This varied role requires a degree of flexibility as you will need to be able to react to the needs of the lawyers and the clients as they arise.
