The Torbay Invitational is an annual sailing event that connects the South West’s business community with the thrill of yacht racing.

This was a joint idea from the team here at Wollens and Philip Meek Mortgages, the event was created to inspire collaboration, build lasting connections, and celebrate Torbay’s world-class sailing heritage.

Each year, local businesses pair with yacht owners, giving newcomers and seasoned sailors alike the chance to race side by side. Beyond the competition, the day includes harbourside hospitality, live race tracking, and fundraising for the Disabled Sailing Association, ensuring the event has impact both on and off the water.

Our mission is simple: to create experiences that bring people together, strengthen our community, and showcase Torbay & the South West as a premier destination for business & sailing.

This year’s event was our biggest yet, bringing together 19 teams, over 83 businesses and more than 230 attendees for a fantastic day of sailing, networking and fundraising on the English Riviera.

We were joined by competitors, sponsors, skippers, volunteers and guests, whose support helped make the event such a success. The atmosphere both on and off the water was incredible, and it was fantastic to see so many businesses building new relationships and strengthening existing ones.

We would like to thank our headline sponsor, PKF-Francis Clark, alongside Pantaenius UK, the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, our skippers, volunteers and everyone who contributed behind the scenes. Events like this simply wouldn’t happen without your support.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the Torbay Invitational continues to be our support for the Disabled Sailing Association – we are incredibly grateful to everyone who bought raffle tickets and donated to the DSA.

Keep your eyes peeled for our 2027 “Save the Date” email.

We’ll soon be inviting businesses to register their interest for next year’s Torbay Invitational, including team entries. Following the success of this year’s event, we’re expecting demand to be stronger than ever, so we’d encourage anyone interested in getting involved to respond early.

Thank you once again for your support, and we hope to welcome you back for an even bigger, and better, Torbay Invitational in 2027.
