A Planning Inspector has ruled that our clients, a disabled couple, may keep their home after planning permission had initially been refused by Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA). Our clients had extended their tiny home to enable them to better accommodate their living needs in accordance with advice from a planning consultant. That advice later turned out to be incorrect. A subsequent application to DNPA to seek retrospective permission for the extended dwelling was rejected and Wollens were instructed to submit an appeal against refusal to the Planning Inspectorate.

“This is a great result for our clients who were fearful of losing their home” said Jon Dunkley, planning lawyer and head of the Regulatory team at Wollens. “Whilst the Inspector acknowledged that the extended property was contrary to certain DNPA policies, she determined that there was no detriment to the National Park in that the home was of a modest size and was not particularly visible within a sheltered valley.”
