Karen Miller

I’m a partner in the private client department and I head up the Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning team, during my career I have worked with some of the country’s leading experts in inheritance tax. 

I help clients plan for their futures and their families.  I am an inheritance tax planning and trust specialist and I advise a wide range of clients on strategies to protect their assets.  I am able to tailor my advice to each client’s particular needs and the dynamics of their family. 

My work typically includes:

• Advising clients on succession and strategies to protect their assets and provide for their families, especially vulnerable family members, in the most tax efficient way.
• Identifying tax mitigation opportunities and variations.
• Preparing Wills, including trusts for asset protection and tax mitigation.
• Creating, varying, and winding up trusts.
• Dealing with trust registration.
• Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney for personal and business decisions. 
• Advising and preparing declarations of trusts in relation to land

I am sympathetic and listen carefully to my clients to understand what they want to achieve, which is, sometimes, not what they initially thought, in these cases I can then offer tailor-made solutions to meet my client’s goals.

I am a full member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, which reinforces my expertise and knowledge in the above fields. 

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my young family (2 very lively boys!) When I have the energy I enjoy yoga, running and exploring the wonderful North Devon countryside in which I grew up.
