Elizabeth Foster

I am a specialist family lawyer and joined the team in July 2007 from a highly regarded Hampshire law firm.

Whilst I’m experienced in dealing with all aspects of family law, my specialism is in resolving financial issues that arise for divorcing parties or those separating following the breakdown of unmarried relationships.

I offer a professional understanding to clients who are dealing with a divorce or a dissolution of a civil partnership or a separation after living together and disputes about the family home and/or finances – these are difficult and stressful times. I am mindful that these are times when it is important to provide straightforward, easy to understand advice with guidance and a clear way to move forward.

I support the Family Law Protocol set out by Resolution which encourages disputes to be resolved in a constructive and non-confrontational manner.

My first aim is always to try and avoid the need for clients to attend court and therefore avoid the costs associated with court proceedings, by exploring alternative methods to resolve their issues and by engaging in negotiations. My overall aim is to enable clients and their former partners to emerge from their relationship breakdown with an outcome which is fair and economically proportionate.

Some clients are alert to the financial and other impacts of a relationship breakdown and so they are keen to make cautionary preparations before they marry or start living together. I’m happy to advise and assist clients in the preparation of pre-nuptial agreements and living together agreements.
