Lydia Murray

I am a solicitor in the Family Department based in our Exeter office. I joined the firm in October 2022 shortly after I qualified as a solicitor. I undertook my training contract at a specialist family law firm for the preceding two years. Prior to this, I was a family law paralegal and a barrister’s clerk.

I specialise in private law children family work advising parents on child arrangements orders, specific issue orders and prohibited steps orders.

I can advise parents on other complicated aspects of children law including parental alienation, relocation and surrogacy. I also advise parents and other family members on special guardianship orders.

I have experience in assisting parents who are victims of domestic abuse and parents who are alleged to be a perpetrator of domestic abuse. This includes advising on non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

I take a compassionate and common sense approach to advising clients through court proceedings. I am committed to following the Resolution Code of Conduct as I encourage parents to reduce unnecessary conflict and confrontation and to remain focused on what is best for the children.

I am a committee member of Devon YRes (Young Resolution) whose purpose is to support junior family law professionals in their career development. This includes building relationships with other solicitors, legal executives and barristers. In turn this fosters a network of family law professionals whom are all working together to assist parents in moving forward with their lives.
