The Devon and Somerset Law Society’s 2019 awards were simply DASL-ing! And although they didn’t land the silverware this time around, staff from Wollens still celebrated their shortlisting in the Team of the Year category.
The society and its event partner have been praised for staging the glittering awards which saw almost 500 people from the two counties’ legal world packed into the stunning Exeter Cathedral venue
Chris Hart, chief executive of Wollens solicitors and secretary of the Devon and Somerset Law Society, said: “It was a fantastic evening of celebration for the profession! We were delighted to have our merger team shortlisted for the Team of the Year award in recognition of a fairly extraordinary feat of pulling off two mergers for the firm within the space of six months. To share the evening with nearly 500 people in such a stunning venue was wonderful and big thanks must go to all at the Devon & Somerset Law Society and Grow Marketing for successfully delivering such a superb event. I know just how much hard work has gone on behind the scenes to achieve this.”
Tony Steiner, Executive Director of DASLS, said: “The DASLS Legal Awards 2019 was our biggest and most ambitious event to date and was a fantastic celebration of the high standard of legal services provided by solicitors in our region. It was fantastic to see so many members of the legal profession join together to celebrate the success of colleagues across the region. A truly spectacular and memorable evening.”
Stephen Mahoney, president of the Devon and Somerset Law Society said: “The dinner and ceremony was the culmination of ten months’ hard work. As spectacular and successful as I hoped it would be, it has taken DASLS Awards to another level.”
One of the other highlights of the night was grace which was said just before dinner by Cathedral Dean, the Very Reverend Jonathan Greener and went like this:
The Best lawyers of Devon & Somerset
Gather for a dazzling dinner
Though they tuck in with some apprehension
Hoping to emerge as a Winner
So bless dear Lord the food we share
And make it taste it divine
Then take our South West water
And turn it into wine. Amen
