Sports Injuries
An injured sports player can make an action in either trespass to the person or negligence against the opponent/s who caused the injury to them. This could apply in circumstances such as where a tackle is inherently dangerous and outside the scope of what would be considered reasonable in the course of the game, or where a punch is unreasonable thrown during a sporting contest.
If the injured person can show that their injury was caused by the negligent act of another during the course of the sporting activity, it can give rise to a claim for damages for personal injuries, plus any other financial (or other) losses arising as a result of the injuries.
Wollens specialist personal injury team are happy to discuss the circumstances of any injuries with those who believe they may have a claim, in order to advise them of the merits of any legal action.
To discuss this further please contact either Catherine Pinnegar or Elizabeth Larner at Wollens.
