Following on from what has undoubtedly been one of the most turbulent summers in The Gulls’ 125-year history, we are delighted with the announcement. The Wollens commercial and sports legal team played a vital role in helping the Bryn Consortium take control of TUFC in double-quick time, and we will now be officially recognised as United’s legal partner.

In addition to our loyal and long-standing support of Torquay United, Wollens’ are now one of the club’s most prominent sponsors, with our name proudly adorning the away terrace, and well as on the training kit of Paul Wotton’s first-team squad for 2024/25.

Wollens’ commitment to not only TUFC but also the wider fanbase and local community has also been evident on some of The Gulls’ biggest events in recent years, including the numerous Community Days, and also Neil Warnock’s recent ‘Are You With Me?’ show at the Princess Theatre – sponsored by Wollens.

The new partnership at Plainmoor goes further than ever before though, with Wollens’ expertise and experience set to enhance TUFC’s behind-the-scenes operations to ensure compliance, whilst providing fully comprehensive legal solutions across all areas of South Devon’s only professional Football Club.

Chris Hart, Chief Executive

We are delighted to be appointed as the preferred legal partner for Torquay United Football Club,” said Wollens Chief Executive Chris Hart regarding the partnership.

“I am proud that we represented the Bryn Consortium in the purchase of the club earlier this year, with our sports law and commercial legal teams successfully completing the project within just ten days of the consortium being named the preferred bidder.

“We take great pride in contributing to a project of such significance to both the club and our local community. Torquay United is at the heart of this community, and ensuring the club’s continuity under new leadership is of paramount importance locally.

“Our collaboration will ensure that our full range of commercial law and sports law services are provided to the club, within a valued partnership that supports the club’s legal needs and commercial activities as it moves forward with a secure future.”

Torquay United CEO Joe Lovell was equally enthusiastic regarding the new partnership.

“Wollens have been fantastic supporters of the club for many years now, and we’re delighted to have them on board as the club’s preferred legal partners.

“This is a very exciting time for the club, and we will always be grateful for the huge amount of work the Wollens team put in to help push the Bryn Consortium’s takeover through, and secure the club’s future.”
