Wollens partner David Kendall has received re-accreditation from the Law Society for Children Law.
The children law accreditation is a recognised quality standard for practitioners in representing children in children law proceedings. The accreditation covers all types of children law work and is recognised by the Legal Aid Agency. The accreditation enables families and professionals (such as guardians) to choose a qualified practitioner when a child needs representation.
David, who has been practising law for over 35 years, has specialised in family work since 2001 having previously practised in the areas of criminal defence and civil litigation. David is a member of the Law Society’s specialist Children Panel and Family Law Panel and undertakes a lot of work on behalf of children, either directly or through a Court appointed Guardian.
He also represents parents and other carers within care proceedings and private law disputes. David undertakes a lot of his own advocacy to ensure consistency for his clients .
The accreditation recognises experience and expertise and David’s work takes place across the general south west (Devon, Cornwall and Somerset) and extends to Family Proceeding Courts to the County Court, The High Court and the Royal Courts of Justice, London.
In some locations there are very few, if any, accredited members which reflects the very nature of this specialist qualification.
David said “I am proud to be re-accredited, the type of work that I undertake requires the legal practitioner to have certain qualities and experience to deal with the many, often challenging, aspects of children law. I support my clients throughout the process and want to ensure the best outcomes for them. It is often an emotional journey for them so it is vital that they have the right representative by their side.”
