The Government has announced that employers cannot claim statutory notice periods under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme for claim periods starting on or after 1st December 2020. That means, contrary to the aims of the scheme, that employees who intended to make redundancies to take effect at the end of the furlough period may have to bring their plans forward if they are to save costs.
