Wollens is delighted to announce the qualification of two dedicated team members who have completed their training contracts and joined our family law team. Both solicitors bring unique backgrounds and valuable expertise to Wollens, enhancing our capability to serve clients in complex private family law matters.

A Hometown Return to North Devon

Abigail Roode – newly qualified solicitor, originally from North Devon, returns to her roots with an impressive academic background. She began her journey at Cardiff University, where she graduated with First Class Honours in Law in 2021. Following her degree, she completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) with Distinction at Cardiff in 2022. She joined Wollens as a trainee solicitor immediately after, bringing her expertise and commitment back to the region. Qualifying on 3rd October 2024, she will continue to work within the family team, specialising in divorce, matrimonial finances, private children matters, and cohabitation disputes under TOLATA.

Building Expertise in Family Law

Amelia Smith who is our 2nd newly qualified solicitor has been with Wollens since 2021, having joined as a temporary paralegal in the care team before progressing to a training contract in the private family law team. She began her studies at a college in Bristol, later earning a degree in Law and Criminology from Plymouth University in 2018. After completing her LPC and a Master’s in Law at the University of Law in Bristol, she gained practical experience as a family paralegal in Exeter and Newton Abbot from 2019 to 2021. Recognising her potential, Wollens offered her a training contract in October 2022, and in April 2024, a permanent position in the family team. She also qualified on 3rd October 2024 and will focus on private family law.

Christopher Linton is the Training Principal at Wollens and he expressed pride in both solicitors’ achievements, stating, “We are incredibly proud of both our newly qualified solicitors. Their dedication, resilience, and passion for family law have been evident throughout their training, and they bring valuable knowledge and experience to our team. Watching them develop into outstanding practitioners has been a privilege, and I’m excited to see all they will accomplish in the years to come.”

These two talented solicitors bring fresh insights, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for supporting clients through life’s most challenging situations. We are proud to welcome them as fully qualified solicitors and look forward to their contributions to the Wollens family team and the community.
